Tosca, a global leader in reusable packaging and pooling solutions, announced the appointment of Jeff Poehls as U.S. director of protein sales. With a career spanning more than 33 years in the food industry, Poehls brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role.

Prior to joining Tosca, Poehls had a leadership role at JBS, the world’s largest protein supplier. He also held various key positions at Smithfield Foods for over two decades, in roles such as director of engineering, plant manager, and senior director of business development.

Poehls’s comprehensive understanding of all facets of the supply chain, from engineering and operations to driving value with retailers, uniquely positions him to drive strong relationships for Tosca, according to the news release. His appointment further solidifies the company’s dedication to revolutionizing the food industry through sustainable packaging and pooling solutions.

“I am thrilled to join the Tosca team and build lasting partnerships with leaders in the food supply chain,” Poehls said. “Tosca’s commitment to sustainability and innovation is evident in everything they do. I am already proud to work with a company that aligns so perfectly with my own values, and I am eager to lead the charge in driving transformative value for our partners.”

Steve Arendsen, president of Tosca North America, remarked, “Tosca is the U.S.’s largest pooler of reusable packaging for protein and poultry. But it’s such a massive industry, there’s still much ground to be gained in helping suppliers and retailers make the conversion. Jeff’s deep understanding of this supply chain uniquely qualifies him to help the industry optimize the bottom-line and sustainability benefits of reusables.”

Poehls earned his degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University and his MBA from William & Mary.

Tosca’s reusable plastic packaging and performance pooling solutions are purpose-built for our customers to eliminate food, labor, and transportation waste and improve performance. The company’s portfolio of pooled, IoT-enabled reusable plastic assets includes crates, pallets, bulk containers, and more.
