The Allen D. Leman Swine Conference, an annual educational event for the global swine industry, is scheduled for Sept. 18-21, 2021. The conference is internationally acclaimed for bringing science-driven solutions to the complex challenges facing the industry. Each year hundreds of participants from over 20 countries, including swine veterinarians and other professionals working in swine production and animal health management, attend the Leman Swine Conference. This year’s event is unlike any other year as it is going hybrid.

Individuals interested in attending can choose to be in person at the usual RiverCentre venue in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota or can view a livestream of the conference from a distance.

Recordings of all presentations will be posted online for every registrant to review.

Keynote speakers for the event are Craig Edsill of Clemens Food Group, Dr. Declan Schroeder from the University of Minnesota, Dr. Volker Gerdts with the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization at the University of Saskatchewan and Dennis DiPietre of KnowledgeVentures.

Breakout sessions will cover topics like biosecurity, PRRS, sustainable pork production, mortality, African swine fever, Proposition 12 and nutrition.

In 1974, Dr. Allen D. Leman, a new University of Minnesota Extension veterinarian, and Dr. Jim Hanson, director of the college of veterinary medicine’s continuing education program, initiated the conference to present new information and discuss issues important to the swine industry. Leman understood how a university could influence practitioners and empower them to be leaders for the swine industry.
