Wenger Feeds Pennsylvania mills achieve Process Verified status

Article-Wenger Feeds Pennsylvania mills achieve Process Verified status

Company becomes first independent feed mill to achieve certification.

Wenger Feeds announced Oct. 4 that all its Pennsylvania-based mills are now Process Verified through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Process Verified Program. The company is the first independent feed mill in the country to achieve certification.

By certifying all commonwealth-based locations, the company said it offers its customers and manufacturing team greater flexibility, while individual customers will no longer have to bear the time and cost associated with single audits as each location will be certified for all Process Verified programs.

The program is audited regularly by USDA and includes how well Wenger Feeds conforms to customer-defined requirements. As such, process points must be verifiable, repeatable, feasible and factual and cannot be requirements of regulations or management system criteria.

Wenger said its triple certification in ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 was an asset in achieving Process Verified Certification.

“Our ISO certification was key in achieving Process Verified status as the system is based on the ISO 9001 standard. We were able to build procedures that address each set of customer requirements and group them into one certification,” Clay Henry, quality and food safety manager, noted.

Wenger Feeds, a regional poultry and swine feed manufacturer serving the mid-Atlantic region, is a member of the Wenger Group, a comprehensive agricultural company offering feed, ingredients, eggs and egg marketing, flock services and pullet growing.
