Cryptosporidium parvum plays a major role in the development of neonatal calf diarrhea, and soon there will be a new tool for producers’ toolbox to deal with the disease. The European Medicine’s Agency’s Committee for Veterinary Medicinal Products (CVMP) has adopted a positive opinion for the vaccine for cattle effectively proven to protect against C. parvum starting right at birth. Dr. Geert Vertenten, global technical director of the ruminants business, joins us to talk about BOVILIS CRYPTIUM and its indication for the active immunization of pregnant cows to raise antibodies in the colostrum against gp40, a protein expressed by C. parvum.
