A leader in milling science, the industry loses Leland McKinney.

Dr. Leland McKinney died suddenly Jan. 1 at the age of 43 after a brief illness. McKinney earned his bachelor and master of science degrees from Kansas State University and his PhD from Oklahoma State University. He had a distinguished career in milling science animal nutrition, working several jobs in the field, including a tenured professorship at Kansas State and, most recently, as a nutritionist for Purina/Land O’Lakes. McKinney was a regular columnist for the Feedstuffs Facilities section.
