Layn Corp., a producer of plant-based sweeteners and natural extracts, is launching its premium line of TruGro byLayn ingredients for animal nutrition.

Targeting the nutrition requirements for raising healthy cattle, sheep, pigs and poultry, the product line is focused on four primary feed support areas: (1) gut health, (2) antibiotic growth promoter replacement, (3) palatability/sweeteners and (4) antioxidants.

For more than two decades, Layn has produced functional ingredients for human nutrition and is now ready to take the next step into ingredients for the animal feed and pet food sectors, Layn president Elaine Yu told Feedstuffs at the recent International Production & Processing Expo in Atlanta, Ga.

After extensive research and development efforts, Yu said Layn researchers have identified and developed specific ingredients that deliver improved performance and taste profiles for animal nutrition. The new product line includes polyphenol-rich extracts, sweeteners, citrus flavonoids and other specialty natural extracts from such botanicals as monk fruit, grape seed, green tea, oregano leaf and seaweed, among others.

Layn said it has a Global Innovation Center in China, where industry scientists and experts can collaborate on new innovations and applications for plant-based ingredients for either the human or animal nutrition sectors.

The ingredients are produced in Layn’s state-of-the-art and fully automated production facility in China using technology and equipment to help improve quality, yield, waste reduction and sustainability for all of its ingredients.

Yu said the company will utilize distribution networks in North America, South America and Europe to bring its products to market.

Layn Corp. is a global leader in the vertically integrated production of premium-quality, plant-based sweeteners, flavors and natural extracts. Founded in 1995, Layn pioneered the natural high-intensity sweetener industry and has been advancing its innovative ingredients for more than two decades.
