On Aug. 5, 2019, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) will begin publishing the new “National Weekly Specialty Pork Report” (FOB plant and FOB Omaha, Neb.) through its Livestock Mandatory Reporting Program. The report will provide customers with more data and market information not previously available and will increase market transparency, USDA said.

“The report reflects the increased availability of specialty pork products due to changing consumer preferences and production practices,” the agency explained.

According to USDA, the report will include market information for pork cuts from programs that include, but are not limited to, open pen gestation, crate free, antibiotic free, no antibiotics ever, pre-priced and labeled, color graded, breed specific, quality graded and organic.

Further, pork cuts will be reported as a combination of all destinations, sales types, delivery periods, refrigeration types, packaging styles (unless specified) and added ingredients.

There will be cuts from the loin, butt, picnic, spare-rib, ham, and belly primals plus trimmings, USDA added.
