USDA purchases chicken products, chicken strips for feeding programs

The National Chicken Council reported that the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) on Feb. 21 purchased chicken strips and on Feb. 24 purchased chicken products for distribution to the school lunch child nutrition and other related domestic food assistance programs for fiscal 2017.

The first set of deliveries will be made from April 10-30; the second set of deliveries will begin April 15 and extend through June 30.

Between the two deliveries, the USDA purchase totaled $6.13 million.
