USDA lowers beef, pork, broiler production forecasts

USDA lowers total 2023 red meat and poultry forecast to 107.129 billion pounds.

USDA released its latest “Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry Outlook" this week, revealing a complex picture for the beef, pork, and broiler sectors. The agency’s latest “World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates” report, released last week, showed a lower 2023 forecast for U.S. red meat production at 54.275 billion lbs. The 2023 forecast for U.S. total red meat and poultry production forecast was also lower at 107.129 billion lbs., down from the August projection.
