AVAILABLE ON DEMAND
Controlling feed costs has always been a main challenge for dairy farmers. In addition to this economic aspect, there is nowadays an increasing demand for improving the sustainability of milk production.
Among others, high nitrogen excretions are pointed out for their negative impact on the environment. Traditionally the crude protein level of rations for high-producing dairy cows was kept at a high level to fulfill the cow´s requirement. However, the high protein cost and the poor nitrogen efficiency of such feeding practices are challenging the objectives of the livestock system.
Implementing the concept of low dietary protein combined with amino acid balancing as a nutritional strategy comes along with both better profitability and environmental footprint.
What participants will learn:
How to successfully reduce the protein content of dairy diets by applying the amino acid balancing strategy
How amino acid balancing helps to reduce feed costs
How amino acid balancing improves the environmental footprint of dairy farms
How rumen-protected methionine (Mepron) supports the performance and health of transition cows
