Danielle Nelson joins as director of government affairs.

Michael Torrey Associates (MTA) welcomes Danielle Nelson as part of its growing policy team. The Washington, D.C.-based firm offers effective government relations, strategic communications, and issue advocacy as well as full-service association management to a growing number of clients in the food, agriculture, and forestry sector.
Danielle serves as the director of government affairs at MTA where she provides strategic guidance to clients on a wide array of agriculture and food policy issues. Prior to joining MTA, Danielle held the role of director of public policy at the Agriculture Retailers Association.
Nelson also previously served as the director of congressional relations for the National Pork Producers Council where she advocated on behalf of U.S. pork producers. Additionally, she worked in the U.S. House of Representatives as a legislative assistant handling agriculture, finance, foreign affairs, tax, and trade issues.

In her spare time, Danielle volunteers as the Junior League of Washington Committee Chair of N Street Village, a center that offers a spectrum of services for homeless and low-income women in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Additionally, she serves as a co-chair for the Women in Government Relations (WGR) Energy, Environment, and Agriculture Task Force.
A native of Southern California, Nelson earned a bachelor's degree in political science from California State University, Fullerton. She currently resides in Arlington, Va. with her husband John, and cat, Finley.
