Held every two years in Hanover, Germany, EuroTier bills itself as the "leading global trade fair for modern animal production." This year’s show featured 2,629 exhibitors and 163,000 visitors.

It's big, and you'll find almost every farmed animal species represented somewhere.  It's interesting to look outside our specific industries and see the “state of the art” technology in other sectors.

Several companies displayed rotary goat-milking parlors. Another exhibitor showed battery cages for meat rabbits with automated feeding, watering, and manure handling. There was a live demo of a machine traveling overhead automatically chopping and spreading straw in free stalls.

Energy conservation attracted a lot of attention with low-tech solutions like creep hovers and high-tech whole house heat exchangers.   A booth in the Energy Hall featured a combine-like harvester to chop tree saplings for biomass boilers.

If there is a primary theme at EuroTier, it’s cutting edge technology...the latest and the greatest.  Here are just a few examples.

Attending EuroTier should make your bucket list.  The next one is Nov. 11- 16, 2018.  Plan to make the trip and leave time for a game of pig foosball.
