This Week in Washington: May 9-13

This week the House and Senate are back in session for three weeks before they recess again for Memorial Day.

The Senate will resume consideration of H.R.2028, the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2016.

On Wednesday, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack will deliver remarks on food waste to the 2016 Food Waste Summit hosted by the Keystone Policy Center and National Consumers League in Washington, D.C. For more information, click here.

The House Committee on Agriculture plans to hold a hearing Thursday morning at 10 a.m. on the Past, Present and Future of SNAP: The Retailer Perspective. To listen to the hearing live or for an archived Webcast, click here.     

Also on Thursday Vilsack will address advancements in climate-smart agriculture and announce funding for conservation stewardship at the Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C. For more about the event, click here.
