Mountaire and Case have agreed to pay $13.5 million and $8.5 million, respectively. Both companies deny any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to end the cost of further litigation. They also have agreed to cooperate with the plaintiffs in the litigation against remaining defendants.
In the lawsuit, plaintiffs allege that some of the leading poultry companies in the U.S. and two consulting companies conspired to depress compensation paid to employees in the poultry supply chain.
Plaintiffs previously reached settlements with Pilgrim’s Pride for $29 million, Simmons Foods for $12 million, George’s Inc. for $5.8 million, Peco Foods for $3 million, Cargill for $15 million, Sanderson Farms for $38.3 million, Wayne Farms for $31.5 million and Perdue Farms for $60.65 million. Webber, Meng, Sahl and Company Inc. also reached an agreement with plaintiffs to provide cooperation in the ongoing litigation.
