USPOULTRY releases next environmental video in series

The U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY) recently completed the development of Module 2 of the Poultry & Egg Producers Environmental Enhancement & Protection Program (E2P2), an informational video series designed to assist poultry and egg producers with reducing the environmental risk associated with the management of poultry litter and other byproducts generated on the farm.

“Module 2 – Nutrient Management Planning” is a series of four videos that discuss the need, requirement and environmental benefit of actively implementing a nutrient management plan developed specifically for an individual poultry and egg farm.

Module 2 of E2P2 was a collaborative effort among USPOULTRY, The Livestock & Poultry Environmental Learning Center and the Environmental Protection Agency. Program content and videos were developed by subject matter experts from the Livestock & Poultry Environmental Learning Center and USPOULTRY and were funded, in part, through a grant provided by EPA.

“The nutrient management plan videos highlight an area of critical importance for both EPA and agriculture. Properly implemented nutrient management plans protect water resources. They also allow farmers to balance the amount of nutrients they apply with the needs of their crops. We look forward to continuing our work with farmers to find additional areas of mutual benefit,” Andrew Sawyers, director of EPA’s Wastewater Office, said.

The “Module 2 – Nutrient Management Planning” video series can also be viewed on USPOULTRY’s YouTube channel.
