REPROQUEST announced the completion of its expanded manufacturing facilities in Fitchburg, Wis., to manufacture the ReproQuest Clear Choice bag for use in swine semen packaging.
"Historically, semen packaging has been manufactured outside the U.S. with plastics that include adhesives," ReproQuest president Dr. Kevin Rozeboom explained. "Plastics that use adhesives may contain trace contaminants that cannot be identified using current industry testing. Without a reliable test to identify a potential threat, the industry is left vulnerable to repeat problems from these contaminants."
ReproQuest said it has incorporated a proprietary, non-adhesive, medical-grade plastic developed by 3M Corp. that is made using Lean 6-Sigma manufacturing processes, resulting in a plastic that exceeds guidelines for medical and pharmaceutical use and ensures product integrity, consistency and traceability.
"Utilizing 3M's medical-grade plastic in conjunction with our manufacturing provides the security of full traceability from initial ingredient acquisition to finished product," Rozeboom said.
