Global organization represents manufacturers of veterinary medicines.

The International Federation for Animal Health (IFAH), the global organization representing the manufacturers of veterinary medicines, has announced a new name and visual identity. The not-for-profit organization will now be known as HealthforAnimals.

The name change better reflects the organization’s vision to communicate the important contribution the animal health sector brings to society, and broadens its influence and impact as the global voice of veterinary medicine. To lead this vision, George Heidgerken, global head of Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health, was appointed president earlier this year.

Developing the new identity was a collaborative effort, conceived following careful consideration and research among the organization's members, stakeholders and the general public. A new logo has also been developed and the website will be refreshed in the coming months.

HealthforAnimals executive director Carel du Marchie Sarvaas said, "Our vision is to help create a healthier world through an innovative, responsible and sustainable animal health sector. We felt that a new identity was required to better reflect this and our desire to become a universal reference point on the benefits of animal health products for animal health and welfare, food safety and security and public health.

"After careful thought, we agreed that HealthforAnimals, underpinned as the 'global animal medicines association,' is an identity that can be identifiable to all, from our industry partners to governments and consumers. The new name better communicates what we represent and stand to achieve as an organization," he added.

Since its establishment, HealthforAnimals has brought the topics of food security, innovation, pets and prevention of diseases to the forefront of discussions on global health issues. Acting as a unique platform for stakeholder relations, HealthforAnimals will continue to bring together global thought leaders from major international bodies, governments, animal health stakeholders, food industry partners and consumers.
