Marek’s disease has become more virulent and more detrimental to the immune system of infected birds. Because of this, producers and veterinarians can no longer rely on the old ways of doing things. Recent field work supported by Boehringer Ingelheim highlights data-driven strategies producers can use to better assess Marek’s challenge in their flock and its effect on the immune system, which can help them better manage the disease and reduce the risk of secondary infections like Salmonella.
