INSIDE WASHINGTON: USDA still short-staffed

Ag groups call on White House to fill more than dozen top administrative vacancies at USDA.

As President Donald Trump approaches the 200-day mark of his administration, official nominees to serve as undersecretaries remain in the clearance stage. More than a dozen prominent agricultural organizations are urging him to move quickly to fill vacancies within the U.S. Department of Agriculture. To date, no undersecretaries have been formally nominated by the White House, leaving the agency without the direction needed.
