INSIDE WASHINGTON: Trump takes ax to USDA budget

Skinny budget proposed would reduce USDA’s budget by 21% and would slash EPA’s by 31%.

Congress has the final say on appropriations, but President Donald Trump, in his first official budget request, proposed a 21% decrease for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s budget. The new 2018 budget request looks to cut $4.7 billion from the 2017 annualized continuing resolution level, for a total of $17.9 billion requested for USDA.
