A coordinated approach is required to minimize salmonella prevalence in poultry production

Minimizing Salmonella prevalence in poultry production requires the coordination of the entire production chain and includes management coupled with a well-planned vaccination protocol to minimize the Salmonella load that makes it into processing plants. 

Eric Shepherd, DVM, MS, MAM, DACPV, senior technical services veterinarian, at Zoetis will speak on successful strategies to reduce Salmonella in flocks looking across the production chain. While Kalen Cookson, DVM, MAM, DACPV, director of clinical research, at Zoetis has numerous serotype challenge studies and has looked extensively at colonization and shedding reduction in long long-lived birds and broilers. 

Both will bring their unique perspectives to this topic as the the U.S. Department of Agriculture seeks to strengthen efforts to lower the incidence of Salmonella among people, specifically illness associated with poultry products.
