Minimizing Salmonella prevalence in poultry production requires the coordination of the entire production chain and includes management coupled with a well-planned vaccination protocol to minimize the Salmonella load that makes it into processing plants.

While Kalen Cookson, DVM, MAM, DACPV, director of clinical research, at Zoetis has numerous serotype challenge studies and has looked extensively at colonization and shedding reduction in long long-lived birds and broilers.
Both will bring their unique perspectives to this topic as the the U.S. Department of Agriculture seeks to strengthen efforts to lower the incidence of Salmonella among people, specifically illness associated with poultry products.
