Zinpro to purchase PSP, CouvLotta

Zinpro Corp. announced Oct. 16 that it is acquiring two leaders in water-soluble-based animal nutrition and nutritional support products: Paragon Specialty Products LLC (PSP) of Rainsville, Ala., and CouvLotta LLC of Rockport, Texas. The expected closing date for the acquisitions is Nov. 1.

“All of us at Zinpro Corp. are very excited to join with these two U.S. companies to grow our global performance trace mineral nutrition business,” Zinpro president and chief executive officer Bill Scrimgeour said. “Both additions to our company provide innovative, customizable and proprietary nutritional solutions for improved animal wellness and performance and nutritional support products for optimizing animal care.”

Joey Couvillion, co-founder of PSP and CouvLotta, added that joining the two companies with Zinpro creates extensive synergies for all three entities. “Teaming up the top-notch employees and technologies at PSP and CouvLotta with those at Zinpro will accelerate growth and new business opportunities for everyone involved,” Couvillion said. “The combined knowledge, enthusiasm and technical expertise from each company joined into one will generate even more momentum to develop and launch improved animal nutrition products than we could as separate entities alone.”

CouvLotta co-founder Lane Lott said, “Our combined knowledge in water delivery systems, specialty ingredient sourcing, quality and risk mitigation programs and nutritional antibiotic alternatives is a great fit with Zinpro’s global resources and expertise in performance trace mineral nutrition. Just as importantly, Zinpro’s research and development capabilities are world renowned, with a fantastic animal nutrition research staff and resources for new product development.”

PSP and CouvLotta both will continue to be based and operated from their current locations with existing management. Both companies have been family owned and privately held, as is Zinpro. Terms and conditions of the agreement remain undisclosed.

PSP was established in 1999 by Joey and Phyllis Couvillion. The company primarily serves the U.S. poultry and swine industry with a broad product line of water acidifiers, vitamins and nutritional supplements and also offers opportunities to serve cattle and aquatic farming operations.

CouvLotta was formed in 2015 by Joey Couvillion and Lott to provide innovative, customized, antibiotic-free nutritional support products and programs targeted to specific species and production systems, including cattle, swine, poultry, aquaculture and pets.

More than 45 years ago, Zinpro pioneered the research and development of Performance Minerals. As a family-owned, privately held company, Zinpro's steady growth has resulted from a focus on performance trace minerals for exceptional animal nutrition. Today, the company has regional sales offices in 11 countries and markets its products in more than 70 countries worldwide.
