Max joins us from Brazeau, in southeast Missouri. In four counties, folks tour 38 local churches the two days before Christmas.

Linda Barber, Brazeau Presbyterian Church, talks about the history of the church, including Civil War veterans and slaves. Linda decorates the church, including the tree and windows. She starts preparing for those decorations in June.

The next stop is Altenburg, Missouri, at Trinity Lutheran Church, where Max visits with Warren Schmidt and Gerard Fiehler about the history of the church and community, including the Lutheran Heritage Center. There are very historic pieces in the church that came over from Germany in 1839.

Max joins us next from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, visiting with Mike and Jean Miller about the history of the church and community. There isn't a current congregation at the church, but Mike has fond memories as a young boy, and Jean when she was dating Mike. A common theme in the memories is food. They also decorate the church for the tour, including the tree, and work to preserve the local house of worship.

In Biehle, Missouri, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Max talks to Trish Erzfeld, Perry County Heritage Tourism, and Mary Jane Buchheit, Perryville, Missouri, about the history of the church tour and the local community, as well as the impact of family on the community. Many of the churches on the tour are 150 years old or more. Trish also talks about the impact of agriculture on the community.

At one of the most historic churches on the tour, Old McKendree Chapel, Jackson, Missouri, Max visits with Doris Dace about the history of the church, which starts in 1819. The building hosts a service once a year, and is used for weddings or other group events. Doris helps decorate the space each year, and explains some of the history behind the décor choices. She also talks about Mr. McKendree, who was the first Methodist bishop who was born in the U.S.

While in the area, Max also had to stop at the American Tractor Museum, and visits with Arley Berkbuegler and Kenny Buchheit about some of the projects going on at the museum, as well as the exhibits.

Kenny and Rhonda Buchheit visit with Max about St. Maurus Church, what it means to their family and the history of the church and community, as well as how special Christmas is to the church. Kenny also talks about the ag industry in the area.
