USDA wants MOU with FDA on animal gene editing

Current regulatory framework poses significant barrier in future adoption of gene edited animals.

Similar to how the Food and Drug Administration reached an agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture on how to share regulatory responsibility for cell-based meat technology, Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue said he hopes the same can be done on regulating gene editing for food animals.
