USDA offers $2m in grants to support sheep industry

Grant program seeks to develop solutions for practical problems on national basis and address needs of entire sheep industry.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that $2 million in competitive grant funding is available for the Sheep Production & Marketing Grant Program (SPMGP), which supports USDA’s efforts to strengthen and enhance the production and marketing of sheep and sheep products in the U.S. through the improvement of infrastructure, business and resource development and the development of innovative approaches to solve long-term needs.

USDA explained that SPMGP seeks to develop solutions for practical problems on a national basis and to address the needs of the entire sheep industry while focusing on the measurable benefits for sheep producers, encouraging partnerships among other sheep industry organizations and reducing duplication of efforts among participating organizations.

Applications must be submitted electronically through by 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on June 24. For more information about grant eligibility and previously funded projects, visit the SPMGP website, or contact
