USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) confirmed Nov. 28 that three additional large commercial turkey flocks in S.D. and one large egg laying operation in Nebraska have highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), pushing the total number of birds affected by the virus to 52.46 million and well above the record 50.5 million birds affected in 2014-15.
