Trump nominees advance in Senate

USDA undersecretary nominee Ibach advances, while Northey’s nomination is on hold and other nominees passed out of committee.

On Thursday, the Senate unanimously confirmed Nebraska director of agriculture Gregory Ibach to serve as undersecretary of marketing and regulatory programs at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. For Iowa secretary of agriculture Bill Northey, who was confirmed for undersecretary of farm production and conservation by the Senate Agriculture Committee at the same time, a hold has been put on his vote before the full Senate.
