The Association of Equipment Manufacturers' (AEM) October "U.S. Ag Tractor & Combine Report" shows that overall sales remained positive year to date, although a few categories recorded declines in October.

U.S. sales of self-propelled combines declined 7% in October compared to last year, and U.S. sales of four-wheel-drive tractors were about flat, with a 1% drop month over month. October year-to-date growth in U.S. sales reached 17% for combines and 13.5% for four-wheel-drive tractors.

Total October U.S. sales of two-wheel-drive tractors grew 6% compared to last year: a 9% gain for under-40 hp tractors, a 5% increase for 40-100 hp tractors and a drop of 8% for 100-plus hp tractors.

October year-to-date growth for overall U.S. sales of two-wheel-drive tractors topped 7%: under-40 hp tractors gained 10%, while 40-100 hp tractors grew 2% and 100-plus hp tractors increased 6%.

“With the 2018 midterm elections over, we urge our elected leaders to refocus on ensuring a strong ag economy. We will continue to advocate for agriculture, including a robust farm bill, infrastructure, trade, rural broadband and a strong Renewable Fuel Standard,” Curt Blades, AEM senior vice president, AG services, said.
