Toxic gases from a grain silo are responsible for the death of three family members of a Minnesota farm family. Curt (47), Alex (11) and Steven (49) Boesl, all passed away after exposure to the fumes.
Curt and son Alex were working on top of the silo Dec. 21 when they were overcome by gases. Curt's brother Steven was also overcome by fumes when he tried to rescue them. He died at the scene, while Curt and Alex were airlifted to nearby hospitals. Curt Boesl died of his injuries the day after the accident but Alex fought for his life for nearly a week before passing away.
A joint funeral has been scheduled for this week.
Community members have rallied around the Boesl families, raising nearly $100,000 through a GoFundMe account set up to be split between the two families.
