Four more large turkey operations in South Dakota have confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) during the last week, pushing the total number of birds affected by the virus in the U.S. to nearly 53 million birds. In the past two weeks alone, over 450,000 turkeys have had to be depopulated due to the virus.
