Smithfield Foods announces Kentucky facility expansion

Smithfield Foods Inc. has announced a $1.2 million expansion at its Grayson, Ky., facility, which will increase production capacity by 20%. To meet the growing operational needs, Smithfield is hiring 40 full-time positions. The Grayson facility produces Smithfield brand spiral-sliced hams.

“In the last several years, our growth has allowed us to invest in our facilities and create new opportunities for those living in the communities we call home,” said Jeff Salyer, Grayson plant manager for Smithfield Foods. “We are proud to invest in Grayson and look forward to welcoming new members of the Smithfield family at this facility, which helps put holiday hams and other mealtime favorites on millions of tables each year.”

Available positions include general production, maintenance and engineering trainee. The Grayson facility currently employs more than 570 residents from Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia and is located along Interstate 64 for easy accessibility to the Tri-State area.
