Furst-McNess will market distiller cubes manufactured at new facility.

The Furst-McNess Co. announced this week the opening of a $20 million new protein cubing facility in Yankton, S.D., after nearly one-and-a-half years of planning by Dakota Protein LLC.
Furst-McNess, which has a marketing agreement with Dakota Protein, will be marketing the distillers cubes for the Yankton facility and said it has long recognized the benefits of providing high-quality protein products for beef cattle, particularly those cattle grazing or fed low quality forages.
The 46,000 sq. ft. facility is a state-of-the-art and fully automated plant and will be holding an open house on March 24. The facility is committed to providing value-added products for Midwest corn farmers and will manufacture a high-quality, 100% distiller cube, the announcement said. Cubes will provide livestock producers with a high-protein (28% crude protein), high-energy (8% fat) supplementation option for their operations.
The facility is committed to high-quality protein cube production for livestock producers, the announcement said. It will manufacture both a cow cube (7/8 in. x 3.0 in.) and a calf cube (3/8 in. x 1.5 in.) that can be delivered directly to the ranch or distribution facilities.
The plant has an indoor rail loadout system and has service to all Class I railroads. In addition to the rail system, it has Ledwell paddle wagons that can service on-farm bin systems.
