The Maschhoffs LLC has acquired a pod of sow farms, nursery and finishing space, a feed mill and a truck wash in Albin, Wyo. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The addition of these sow farms, which have a total capacity of 13,500 animals, brings The Maschhoffs’ total size to 195,000 sows.

“This purchase supports our operating strategy in the western portion of our system,” Maschhoffs president Dr. Bradley Wolter said. “In addition, these farms will benefit from the support of our regional team in Arapahoe, Neb., while further diversifying our risk from disease, given the remote location.”

Ken Maschhoff, co-owner and chairman of the board, noted that the farms support the company’s customer focus.

“Our vision is to deliver the best customer service possible to our packer customers,” Maschhoff said. “With this pod of sow farms, we are making a strategic investment in ensuring our supply chain delivers maximum value to the customers in our western footprint.”
