Kabat named Cargill North American protein lead

Cargill has named Hans Kabat group leader and president of Cargill’s North American protein business, effective May 1, 2021.

Kabat, who began his career with Cargill in 2001 and joined the Cargill Protein & Salt enterprise leadership team in 2019, succeeds Jon Nash who was recently promoted to president of Cargill Protein and Salt, one of Cargill’s four global business enterprises.

“Hans has deep expertise in the protein industry and is executive who leads with integrity and conviction. I’m thrilled to have him continue his leadership journey with us,” said Nash. “His success over the past 20 years reflects his commitment to developing talent and executing against strategic priorities that grow our business and serve our customers.”

Kabat currently leads Cargill’s protein business in Asia and Europe, which has more than 22,000 teammates across 10 countries. He has worked across Cargill’s protein business and held leadership roles in the U.S, Thailand, Canada and China. Kabat has served as the president of Cargill Protein Southeast Asia, managing director for Cargill Value Added Meats in Canada, managing director for the Cargill McDonald’s Business Unit and supply chain manager in Cargill Kitchen Solutions.

Cargill’s North American protein business has a diverse 28,000-member team and operates approximately 60 protein facilities, distribution centers, feed mills, hatcheries, and an innovation center in the U.S. and Canada, in addition to maintaining international sales offices.
