JBS concludes acquisition of Marba

JBS S.A. announced that its subsidiary Seara Foods concluded the purchase of Frigorífico Marba on Dec. 20 under the terms of the agreement to purchase and sell quotas and other covenants that was signed on Nov. 6.

The transaction previously had been approved by Brazil's antitrust authority, among other conditions that are usual in this type of transaction.

The company said the acquisition is in line with its strategy to expand its portfolio of brands and higher value-added products.

With annual revenues of around 350 million reals, Marba is one of the most traditional brands of cold cuts and sausages and a reference in the bologna segment in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.

Marba has two factories producing products under the Marba and Pauliceia brands. The product line includes mortadella, ham, fresh sausages, smoked sausages, jerked beef, fresh meat, pork cuts, bacon, salami and sirloin, sausages and a party line.
