INSIDE WASHINGTON: USDA to relocate ERS, NIFA outside D.C.

ERS will get rolled back within chief economist’s office.

In its effort to make the U.S. Department of Agriculture the most “effective, efficient and customer-friendly department” in the federal government, the agency announced Thursday that it will be realigning the Economic Research Service (ERS) within the Office of the Chief Economist (OCE), and employees of ERS and the National Institute of Food & Agriculture (NIFA) will be relocated outside of the National Capital Region.
