GAP animal welfare standards expand to include laying hens

Every farm within farm-to-table supply chain must be audited every 15 months.

Many of the top U.S. retailers and national restaurant chains have committed to a cage-free egg supply. As such, Global Animal Partnership (GAP), creator of the GAP 5-Step Animal Welfare Rating Standards, recently announced that it is expanding beyond its meat standards by launching 5‐Step Animal Welfare Rating Pilot Standards for Laying Hens v1.0.
