Louisiana sugarcane is grown on more than 415,000 acres annually in 23 parishes on about 660 farms. The sugarcane is processes by 12 factories. Raw sugar produced by the cane mills is refined in two Louisiana sugar refineries.

Liquid feed manufacturer Quality Liquid Feeds took a group of feed industry representatives and dealers to Louisiana in early November to tour a cane growing operation, a sugar mill that supplies blackstrap molasses for animal diets and a sugar refinery. This gallery highlights that process and shows how blackstrap molasses comes to be for animal diets.
