Cage-free egg facilities utilize innovative new construction process

"Wrap-the-Equipment" (WTE) is an innovative, patent-pending facility and construction design that is reinventing how a layer house can be built.

Protein producers operate in a complex world of growing populations, environmental regulations, societal norms and financial pressures, but some of the solutions to those complex considerations may well be in the building itself. Through innovation and collaboration, Summit Livestock Facilities and Rose Acre Farms have created an patent-pending approach to cage-free egg production. The process utilizes a Wrap-the-Equipment (WTE) concept. Feedstuffs toured the new facilities under construction at Rose Acre Farms in Francesville, Ind., and talked with officials from both companies about the process and how it evolved.
