BioZyme acquires Cogent Solutions Group

BioZyme Inc., a worldwide leader in animal health through nutrition and microbial products and services, has acquired Cogent Solutions Group LLC (CSG), a leader in the research, development and production of bioactive polysaccharides.

CSG’s MHB3 Hyaluronan recently received its seventh U.S. patent for supporting joint health in mammals. Hyaluronex, Baxyl, Runovia and Trixsyn are joint support category leaders for their respective species, BioZyme pointed out. Similarly, CSG’s Phygest, Alimend and Alicaid use proprietary polysaccharides to provide stomach comfort for people, horses and companion animals, respectively.

With this acquisition, BioZyme further extends its reach into animal health and welfare and lays the foundation to expand its offerings to people. BioZyme’s products include VitaFerm, Vita Charge, Vitalize, Amaferm, DuraFerm, AO-Biotics and Sure Champ.

According to BioZyme chief executive officer Bob Norton, “This acquisition makes perfect sense for two thought-leaders like these two companies to come together.”

Jim Smith, CEO of CSG, added, “We look forward to working with BioZyme’s team on the common goal of improving the health and comfort of people and animals using unique compounds from nature.”

BioZyme, founded in 1951, develops and manufactures natural, proprietary products focused on animal nutrition, health and microbiology. With a continued commitment to research, BioZyme offers a complete line of feed additives and high-density, highly available vitamin, mineral, trace mineral and protein supplements for a variety of animals including cattle, pigs, poultry, sheep, goats, horses and dogs. Headquartered in St. Joseph, Mo., BioZyme reaches a global market of customers throughout the U.S., Canada, South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
