'Ag Guide' draft comment period extended

The American Dairy Science Assn. (ADSA), the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS) and the Poultry Science Assn. (PSA) have released of the draft of the 4th edition of the "Guide for the Care & Use of Agricultural Animals in Research & Teaching" (Ag Guide) for public review and comment.

The groups announced that due to COVID-19, the draft's public comment period has been extended from May 1 to May 15, 2020, to allow more time for comments.

General instructions for submitting comments include:

  • Comments must be submitted via the online submission site.

  • Your name, email and affiliation must accompany all comments for comments to be considered.

  • Comments should be constructive in nature.

  • Comments and responses may be posted publicly.

The groups noted that the "Ag Guide" is a joint publication of ADSA, ASAS and PSA, and as such, permissions must be obtained from these groups for use of any and all of the material currently presented in this draft. Because this is a draft copy, it is being presented for public review, not use. Following the public comment period, the societies will make appropriate changes to the document and publish the final open-access version using a creative commons license to allow easy and appropriate use of fourth edition of the "Ag Guide."
