Chr. Hansen announced that the U.S.-based Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) has reviewed GalliPro Fit 10G (chr-13597) and has determined that it is "allowed with restrictions" for use in compliance with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Organic Program.

The listing of GalliPro Fit 10G indicates its compliance with the OMRI Standards Manual, which is based on the USDA National Organic Program regulations (7 CFR Part 205), the company noted. OMRI has evaluated this product for use in organic production in the livestock feed ingredients class.

“The honorary OMRI listing of GalliPro Fit 10G is very important to our organic poultry customers. It gives them the opportunity to use a quality product to benefit their organic production. There are a limited number of products available in this space. We are pleased that the proven probiotic, GalliPro Fit, along with Gallipro Tect, Gallipro Max and Gallipro MS (not on OMRI list), is now available to benefit our organic producers,” said Dr. John Schleifer, technical services manager at Chr. Hansen.

The OMRI certificate was issued in mid-March and is due for annual renewal.

GalliPro Fit is a next-generation probiotic product for poultry. It is a combination of three highly selected, naturally occurring, efficacious strains of probiotic organisms, Chr. Hansen said. Daily feeding of the product will support normal growth and group livability in commercial poultry flocks and will reduce the shedding of potentially pathogenic organisms, thereby, positively impacting pre-harvest food safety.

OMRI is a non-profit, third-party company that verifies and lists substances such as livestock health care products, pesticides and other input products. It provides organic certifiers, growers, manufacturers and suppliers an independent review of products intended for use in certified organic production, handling and processing.
