Nominate a Master Farmer This year

Do you know a farmer who has a successful operation? Or maybe a farm family that is making a difference in their community or agricultural organization? Missouri Ruralist Master Farmer award is a grassroots program seeking to recognize outstanding agricultural producers and community members.

The program started just four years ago by Missouri Ruralist in an effort to celebrate those farmers that are the driving force behind Missouri agriculture. Starting this year, Master Farmers can be nominated either by themselves or by their peers – folks who looked around their community and saw someone who should be recognized for a job well done and a life well lived. It can be individual farmers or farm families.

Four winners will be chosen and featured in Missouri Ruralist. Winners will also be featured guests at the at the Missouri Young Farmers/Young Farms Wives state convention sharing their agriculture insights with future generations through a roundtable discussion. They will also take part in an awards ceremony during the evening banquet.

If you know of a farmer or farm family that fits the Master Farmer bill, please consider nominating him , her, or the family for the 2014 award. Don't forget, you can nominate yourself.
