The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) will publish the new “Daily Direct Morning” and “Afternoon Hog Reports” on Sept. 30.

According to AMS, all regional purchase information from the eastern Corn Belt, Iowa-Minnesota and western Corn Belt daily direct reports are combined with national information onto a single report versus four separate reports, allowing customers to easily compare market trends on a national and regional basis.

“The new reports include current volumes broken down by purchase type for barrows and gilts priced on a carcass and live basis, along with volume data for the previous week and year, and state of origin,” AMS said.

Starting in September, the reports will also include volumes and price ranges for barrows and gilts in the Other Market Formula and Other Purchase Arrangement categories. The reports are in a user-friendly pdf format, which will be the standard format for all daily hog and pork reports after Dec. 30, 2019.

Customers can access historical data through the DataMart platform.
