LIVESTOCK MARKETS: USDA lowers 2018 production forecast, raises 2019

Higher expected beef production in 2019 offsets lowered forecasts for pork and broiler production.

The U.S. beef, pork, turkey and chicken production forecasts were all lowered in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s latest “World Agricultural Supply & Demand Estimates” report, resulting in an overall decline in the 2018 total red meat and poultry production forecast from 103.1 billion lb. in September to 102.6 billion lb. in October.
