LIVESTOCK MARKETS: Egg sector likely to have second most profitable year

Hog prices fall as beef demand remains good.

As the Easter holiday approaches, Brian Earnest, commodity analyst for Informa Economic IEG, said wholesale shell egg prices have been much stronger than anticipated during the first quarter of 2018 as a result of retailers returning to everyday low price schemes at lower retail price points as well as aggressive featuring early on that included the item as a loss leader.
