Mike Pearson leads the This Week in Agribusiness broadcast which looks at how the new presidential administration and the executive orders signed this week impacts biofuels.

Pearson talks with Brian Jennings, CEO, of the American Coalition for Ethanol, about the freeze on regulatory guidelines including the 45Z just implemented a couple of weeks ago and the availability of ethanol throughout the year.

Next up was Mike Zuzolo, Global Commodity, Analytics, who discussed the importance of trade policy in the new Trump administration. Pearson also talked about the corn, soybeans and cattle markets with Zuzolo. Cattle markets set another record last week with $2 a pound prices and the wheat discussion centered around the dormancy period for the U.S. wheat crops.

Greg Soulje is in with a weather forecast for the week.

David Holt, president of the Consumer Energy Alliance, talked with Pearson about how Trump says the U.S. needs more affordable, reliable energy. They discussed how Trump has declared a national emergency in energy and opened the Gulf of Mexico up for energy development.

Another hot topic was immigration during the broadcast. Josh Baethge, Farm Progress Policy Editor, talked about the fight against immigration will impact agriculture including the emergency at the "Southern Border."

Plus, a busy week and February with weather headlines with Greg Soulje.

Pearson also talked with Sarah Muirhead, Farm Progress Livestock Editor, about her recent visit to the World Pork Expo and the technology coming to the market in the hog world as well as pork consumption in the United States. The duo also discussed the bird flu outbreak and whether it will impact the IPPE (International Production & Processing Expo). Plus, some new ideo podcasts coming from the livestock side of Farm Progress.

The FFA tribute this week goes to Caleb Lents, Iowa State FFA, North Central Vice President.

In the ag tech segment, Chad Colby talks with turkey farmer Jason Yordy, of Yordy Turkey Farm. Yordy tells Colby about a new data collection system that monitor random weights of birds along with water and grain intakes. It also allows producers to compare flocks and genetics plus has health alerts available.

Pearson also talks with Ron Calhoun, of Nutrien Ag Solutions to discuss a new product, Infinity to increase nitrogen efficiency and allows farmers to stretch crop input dollars.
