The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) said this week it will publish an expanded "National Weekly Shell Egg Inventory Report" to better serve the egg industry. The report now includes total inventory figures for specialty, cage-free and organic eggs by region.
“The new format provides stakeholders a more complete picture of available egg inventories in one convenient report,” USDA said.
The "National Weekly Shell Inventory Report" delivers a representative measure of the shell eggs available in the marketplace each week by capturing the current inventories of shell eggs sitting in coolers. It then compares the current week’s values to the previous week’s values, showing the inventory changes and trends from week to week.
The egg market information released by USDA Market News assists producers, consumers, processors and distributors in the sale and purchase of eggs and egg products locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. The "National Weekly Shell Inventory Report," along with other egg market reports, can be found on the agency's Livestock, Poultry & Grain Market News webpage.
