Jacks Inc. has announced the acquisition of Curvon Horse Clothing, America’s oldest manufacturer of premium-quality horse clothing and accessories.

“Over the last century, three generations of the Banta family have enabled Curvon to continue the 5/A Baker brand reputation of excellence that is known worldwide. The Baker triple-weave blanket, featuring the iconic tan and black plaid with fancy striped trim, was first developed in 1866 by the S.W. Baker Co. of Providence, Rhode Island,” Dede Dean, Jacks executive vice president, said.

Jacks is excited to have this opportunity to add the 5/A Baker and the entire Curvon product line to its family of prestigious brands. This makes the seventh acquisition for Jacks since 1971, when Greek immigrant and founder Jack Balahtsis first began his family business. Jack retired in 2012 and handed the reins over to his children Steve Balahtsis, president, and Dede Dean as partners. The recent addition of third-generation family members actively involved in daily operations include Steve’s son Demetre, daughters Angel and Kallista and Dede’s daughter Gabrielle.

For any questions regarding this transition, inquiries or orders for 5/A Baker and Curvon Horse Clothing, Jacks Inc. can be reached at 740-335-5121.
