The Soy Aquaculture Alliance (SAA) announced that it has recently added Dr. Amrit Bart, a tenured professor in the Department of Animal & Dairy Science at the University of Georgia’s College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences, as research director.

Dr. Bart was previously assistant dean and director of the office of global programs at UGA. He has also worked at USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA).

Dr. Bart will work with industry stakeholders to identify market trends and demand, and drive research aimed at expanding the use of soy in aquaculture diets. In addition, he will oversee management of our scientific resources and library and identify critical knowledge gaps to inform future research efforts.

“With this focus, we hope to expand the visibility and use of soy in aquaculture and support the soy farmers of America,” SAA stated.
